Information for Families and Guests

Long Term Units

  • Saint Mary’s Mercy Living Center has open visiting hours. Suggested hours are between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., for resident’s convenience.
  • All residents are encouraged to get dressed daily in appropriate clothing. All clothing (and other personal belongings such as shoes, eyeglasses, hearing aides, blankets, pillow, etc.) must be marked with first initial and last name. Iron on labels are available at no extra charge and are preferred for clothing and blankets. Please see unit nurse for an order form.
  • Laundry services are offered at no additional charge. Family is also welcome to do personal laundry (clothing still needs to be marked for identification purposes). If families prefer to do the laundry, a rubber maid type container with a lid is needed to store soiled clothing. Please let us know if you would like Saint Mary’s Mercy Living Center to do the laundry.
  • Phone jacks are located in each room. If you wish to hook up phone service please call Ed McGlinchey at Ameritech, (616) 384-5970. You will be responsible for the hook-up fee, the monthly access fee as well as any long distance charges.
  • Local television access is available in each room. Family will need to furnish a television. Televisions must also be marked with the resident’s name.
  • Saint Mary’s Mercy Living Center is a smoke free facility. Smoking is not allowed in the building or on the grounds.
  • Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to share meals with their loved ones. A tray is $3.00 and meal tickets can be purchased from the receptionist between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., and after 8:00 p.m.
  • Activities are a major part of daily living here at Saint Mary’s Mercy Living Center. These include music, birthday parties, family nights, pet visits, exercise, special holiday events and many others. Calendars are posted in each room.
  • Saint Mary’s Mercy Living Center offers Mass 4 times per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) as well as a Protestant service (Sunday), and interfaith service (Wednesday evenings) and multiple bible studies and hymn sings through out the month.
